Here is a quick post on strained muscle and strained muscle treatment.
Case History….!
As many of you may know a great deal of my time is taken up with horses, whether riding, training playing with them or trimming their hooves.
On Thursday I felt a slight strain in the belly of the muscle on my upper left arm. What did I do? I completely ignored it and thought it would just go away…!
As you can imagine I have plenty of Traumeel here but in this instance I did not even use it….! There are times when we just don’t listen to our bodies, this being one of those times…!
The next day it was still there, slightly aching. I then thought – OK maybe a bit of Traumeel is needed – so I quickly used the ointment and carried on with a filled morning which was quite physical and involved working with a tricky horse. I noticed when riding that it was still aching, again, I slightly ignored it….
Then late in afternoon after a busy day, I could feel the whole of my left arm seizing up….! So finally I took on board that I needed to address the problem and put into practice my work and strained muscle treatment whihc is what I am always advising others to do…..
What I Recommend and What I Use for Strained Muscle Treatment.
- 1.) Traumeel Ointment
- 2.) Traumeel Drops and at the initial stages every 30 minutes.
- 3.) Hot or Cold depending on your preferences. I draw no strict guidelines here. Some people find hot others find cold good. I personally find hot very soothing, so a hot water bottle in this instance.
- 4.) Some gentle stretching but if it is in acute spasm you will have to wait until it has calmed down – this can be anything from waiting a few hours to a day or two. But gentle movement within your pain threshold is usually always good. In my case I had to wait 24 hours before I could do any gently stretching.
Then work from the outside in towards the tighter more painful region slowly.
- 5.) Louse Hay – a quick peak into her wonderful book to try and find out what is going on in my head. The arms represent “the capacity and ability to hold the experiences of life.” I was able to look through my past week and find out what things had been bothering me and I had unbeknown built up tensions with my upper back, shoulders and arms which had resulted in this tight spasm in the upper arm.
When you start using Louise Hay’s book it is so good – just use it like a reference book.
- 6.) I often find bandaging an area that is sore – gives it some protection and support. So I used a bandage which felt very comforting.
- 7.) Gentle massage around the area.
If you do not have some one who can do this there are many self massage items that are worth investing from small balls to even using tennis balls if you are able to lie on them….
In Addition
That evening I was in acute pain and had to use a sling…very boring. I knew I needed rest and sleep but was not sure how I was going to get to sleep. So this is when I become conventional, I took painkillers and a herbal sleeping remedy and I managed to sleep all through the night.
I them rested the next day and slept and by lunchtime I was virtually better. I was then able to do some stretching which I continued on doing throughout the weekend just gently. I continued with the Traumeel Drops and Ointment throughout the weekend until fully better.
If nothing else remember this lesson – get any injury fully better, don’t skimp at this stage.
By Sunday I was fully better.
What I Find So Rewarding
This is what I find so rewarding – using the basics of homeopathic treatment in this case Traumeel, conventional medicine as a ‘one off’ if necessary in order to get sleep and rest which is often so desperately needed in many of these types of injuries.
Then the use of hydrotherapy, hot and or cold.
Strained Muscle Treatment – The Result
The result going from extreme pain and disabilty to being completely better within 24- 48 hours. This is how I use Traumeel alongside other things.
The Lesson
If you are sore, however small – don’t ignore those aches and pains. Your body is trying to tell you something listen early, look after, care and treat yourself.
Check in with your emotions to find out what is going on inside you that you have ignored or not realized was upsetting you and sort it. This is in my opinion is how you can prevent chronic problems from occurring and this is how you can treat successful strained muscles.
